Tonight was the first in depth night of our Bible study. The two leaders (Brad and Nate) came over to the Layman house tonight, and we began our study. It is a book called "Flesh" by Rick James. I think it is going to be very interesting. The first section is on Forgiveness.
The story it uses is when Jesus had been raised, and he asked Peter (who had denied him three times the day of his crucifixion) if Peter loved him. He asked him three times to symbolize how Peter had denied three times. Peter answers that he does indeed love Jesus, and Jesus says to "Feed my sheep" and "Follow me."
That's it. Peter is forgiven. There's no berating, and no dwelling on it later, it's just forgiveness. So I would ask all of you to pray for me. I have sinned much in the past, so pray that I may let those things go and not dwell on them.
God has forgiven me of those sins, so there is absolutely no reason for me to hold on to any of them. That's all I have for this time. So until next time,
God Bless.
Forgivness is a very powerful thing. I have trouble holding back the tears every time you and Dad sing Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone. The thought of Jesus carrying all of my sins for a lifetime at one moment and then not only mine but everyone else at the same time is overwhelming. Sin is so dark and dreadful and feels so yuk. However, Praise God for Jesus, taking them all and for the forgivness of sins.
ReplyDeleteSometimes do you feel likLe you are the only person that has sinned? You are not!!! Do you feel like you need more forgiveness than someone else? You don't!!! God forgives us of our sins and He forgives and forgets! We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, big or littlé sins it doesn't matter, He loves and forgives us with a love and forgiveness that we can't even comprehend! When we continue to hold on to our pasts and our failures and not forgive ourselves, Satan loves that because he has us doubting ourselves, and it can stifle our ministry, increase our fears etc... We've all been where you are and just want to encourage you to forgive yourself and let it go! God wants it that way, and died and rose for you so you don't have to live under condemnation! Yea!!!!!...Love to keep up with you and your great adventure!..Scott and Celeste
